ABOUT PERMISSIONS
The following permissions are requested from the user:
WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE is needed ONLY to export recurring events.
ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION / ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION is needed ONLY to determine location by GPS.
INTERNET is needed to view this help file.

Overview
HebCal shows an entire month with the Hebrew dates.
Shows holidays and fasting (Chagim & Zomot)
Menu options to deal with any problems of Hebrew characters / words order.
English spelling of Hebrew years, months & chagim.
Foreign language option shows 2nd Yom Tov [in square brackets]
Months & weekdays names displayed in the language set for your device.
Scroll years & months up and down, or use the menu to choose year / month.
One-Click return to Today's date.
Mark your own events.
Long Click on a date to show Sunrise/Sunset times and Moon phase.
Set your location (automatically by GPS or manually by Lon./Lat.) for Sunrise/Sunset times.
Hebcal includes a 2x1 widget.

Widget
Hebcal includes a 2x1 widget that you can put on your home screen like any other widget.
The widget shows the date (Hebrew & Civil), sunrise & sunset times and moon phase.
Click the green button on the widget to switch Hebrew/English.
Click any other part of the widget to bring up the application.
If you use the widget, it will notify you of today's events when you turn on your device.
IMPORTANT:
If HebCal fails to run this is probably caused by having the widget of a previous version.
Move the widget to the trash can; Hebcal will start; Add the widget to your home screen again

Colors
███ Background for Today's day-of-month.
If today's day-of-month is more than days in shown month - the last day of the shown month is marked.
e.g: If today is January 31st then if you show April the 30th will be marked.
███ Text for Holidays
███ Text for Fastings
███ Background for "Hol HaMoed"
███ Color of 1st of Hebrew month א ("Alef")
If the text for Holidays is too small, Long-Click (Tap & Hold) the day, the "Sun" overlay will show a bigger text (see: Sun/Moon)

Navigation
Use the buttons on the bottom to view Prev/Next year, Prev/Next month or return to Today.
You can also use swipes to navigate:
- Swipe left & right for Next/Prev month.
- Swipe up & down for Next/Prev year.

Sun/Moon
Long-Click (Tap & Hold) the day, An overlay will appear that shows the time of sunrise, sunset and moon phase.
It will also show the day's information, including holiday & fasting (if applicable)
Click this overlay or any other day to close it.

Menu
To show the menu, click the Menu button on your device (varied with device & Android version)
If you don't have or can't see the Menu button, then the bottom-right day (with 3 lines on it) can be used.
Long-Click (Tap & Hold) or Dbl-Click (Tap-Tap) on it to bring up the menu.
Reverse Hebrew Letters - Choose this option if Hebrew letters are reversed (your device in NOT fully Hebrew compatible)
ReOrder Hebrew Titles - Choose this option to reorder the first line of the title.
Show Foreign Language - Choose this option to show/hide foreign names of months,weekdays, chagim etc (ON by default)
Choose Date - Jump to a specific month. The current month, jubilee and year will be marked in White
To choose a date:
- Click desired month (Green)
- Click desired jubilee (50 years span, Red)
- Click desired year (Blue)
You MUST click a year (even if staying in "current" year) to close this screen.
Choose Location - Your location is needed for correct sunrise & sunset times.
- Select Auto Detect and click [OK] to detect location by GPS. Your device should have GPS and it should be ON
- Select Manual to enter your location in decimal degrees (not degrees:minute:second) + for North & East, - for South & West
- Click [Jerusalem] for Jerusalem's coordinates (31.77 North, 35.24 East)
You can switch between Numeric/Full keyboard if you have problems entering - (minus) for manual coordinates.
Notifications - Here you can specify how the widget (if used) will notify you when the device is turned on.
Choose between Text only, Text & Vibration or Text & Vibration & Sound.
Recurring Events - Change / Delete your own recurring events. (See Recurring Events)

Recurring Events
HebCal lets you mark your own recurring events.
There are 3 types of events you can add:
█ Birthday
█ Anniversary
█ Yahrzeit
HebCal uses those marks on the day an event occurs.
Recurring events can be shown on Hebrew date, Civil date or both.
Dbl-Click (Tap-Tap) on a day to bring up an overlay with that day's events.
To clarify: HebCal is NOT linked to your Gmail calendar, NOR to the calendar on your device.
However, If you use the widget, the widget itself will notify you of today's events when you turn on your device.
To add an event:
- Go to the month & year when the event first occured
- Dbl-Click (Tap-Tap) on the day the event occured (an overlay will appear)
- Click the ADD EVENT button
- Fill the name of the person's event (1-10 chars.)
- Select the type of event (Birthday, Anniversary, Yahrzeit)
- Select if you want the event to appear on Hebrew, Civil or both dates
- You MUST select at least one calendar (Hebrew/Civil)
- Click Add
You MUST add an event from the exact date it starts so it won't show on previous years.
Note that if an event is to be shown on both Hebrew & Civil dates, it may appear on 2 different days.
In the followng cases an event will be marked on a different date:
- Events that start on February 29th will be shown on February 28 in non-leap years (when shown on Civil)
- Events that start on Adar A will be shown on Adar in non-leap years (when shown on Hebrew)
- Events that start on 30th of Adar A will be shown on 29th of Adar in non-leap years (when shown on Hebrew)
- Events that start on 30th Cheshvan will be shown on 29th Cheshvan in some years (when shown on Hebrew)
- Events that start on 30th Kislev will be shown on 29th Kislev in some years (when shown on Hebrew)
To Edit an event:
- Choose Recurring Events from the menu
- A list of all your events will be shown
- Long-Click (Tap & Hold) on the event
- Change name, type of event or on which calendar to show
- Click [Change]
You can NOT change the starting date of an event!
If you want to change the start date, you have to delete the event and then add it fron the correct date.
To Delete an event:
- Choose Recurring Events from the menu
- A list of all your events will be shown
- Long-Click (Tap & Hold) on the event
- Click [Delete]
- Confirm deletion of event
Export/Import:
Export/Import is reached from the recurring event list:
Click the EXP/IMP at the top-right.
Export will write your events to the root external folder (It will show the name of this folder)
To transfer your events to a different device, copy the file HEBCAL.EXP to the same
location on your new device.
Import will read HEBCAL.EXP from to the root external folder into your event list.
NOTE: Import will overwrite existing list!
